Teacher accounts: It's all about the galleries
At the Scratch future meeting today, there was a debate about how kids' regular Scratch accounts should or shouldn't interact with class groups. Someone raised the question “what if a teacher deletes the kid's account?”
I think that's an easy problem: If it's a regular account, “delete” just removes it from the class. If it's a teacher-created account, it really gets deleted. And teachers don't have access to every draft project in a kid's account, just to the ones the kid explicitly puts in a class-assignment gallery. The teacher's view of the class should be mainly about galleries, not mainly about accounts. I'm guessing that if Scratch is used in a school at all, the school will centralize keeping track of kids' account names, not each teacher individually.
