How will the downloadable version work?
The downloadable Scratch 1.4 always worked better and faster than the online version. How will the scratch 2.0 offline version work then? Will it work like exactly the same as online version or maybe it'll work similarly to 1.4 (better and faster)? I'm really curious because if it will work like online version, then i'm not gonna use Scratch 2.0 at all . It would mess up so many of my projects and i would be forced to use the ol' version.

Well, how fast is your computer?
In terms of operation: The code (and therefore interface and usage) for the offline version will be pretty much the same and the online version, save for a few things (such as the lack of a backpack). In terms of speed: From what I heard, the plan is to use Adobe AIR for the offline version of 2.0; I would imagine that, if your computer is capable of running most Adobe AIR applications just fine, the 2.0 will run smoothly on your computer.

I have Intel i7 so it should work pretty fast
I was curious because old scratch's online ver. differed from offline version. Even the Java player worked a bit differently then flash player (even though both were online players).
Most of my projects work like 2x slower online. Is that normal or maybe i'm doing something wrong?

It happens with me all the time, and I have a Celeron processor (haha). It just is slower because it is Internet based.
My specs: Windows 8.1.2 - 3 GB RAM - Intel Core2 Quad - IE11

Well, 1.4 is based on Squeak. One can expect some differences to appear when trying to play a Squeak project in the Java Player of Flash Player. I have Intel i7 so it should work pretty fast

However, you can pretty much expect 2.0 online and offline to operate the same way since they're based on the same Flash code. What you'll see in 2.0 offline will be likely what you get for 2.0 online and vice versa. No more creating project tweaks to adjust to different players.
Most of my projects work like 2x slower online. Is that normal or maybe i'm doing something wrong?Actually, most people see their project run faster online. Cases where a project runs slow for a user could be
- if they're playing it while in editor mode
- if they have another Flash-heavy website open in another tab or window
- if the Internet connection is sluggish
- the browser. You might want to try out different browsers and see if one of them runs Scratch faster.
If you have a link to one of your 1.4 projects that show this slowness, you can post it and other Scratchers can take a look.

Can I ask about this? For me, projects run about 20-40% slower/laggier online, compared to 1.4. An example of this is my Platforms are fun. Everything moves slower on 2.0/flash, while everything runs smoothly in 1.4.Most of my projects work like 2x slower online. Well
We're at 2.0
I'm not sure this is a good thing
But I guess we'll have to stay here
