Jokes in Music
This topic is for discussing “jokes” made in songs or other pieces of music. It's kind of like when someone writes music with a particular goal in mind besides making it sound good. Here are a few examples:
You could also talk about jokes that were made not by composers but by listeners, such as rickrolling and combining Megalovania with just about every song in existence.
- John Cage - 4'33" (a piece with absolutely no real music, made to express the fact that every performance is different)
- Frank Zappa - The Black Page #1 (contains lots of difficult and abstract rhythms)
- Tom Johnson - Failing (made as a solo for bass players, meant to be difficult because the player must talk about certain things while also playing)
- The Lick (not necessarily a joke, but a sequence of notes that has made its way into a multitude of pieces, mainly jazz)
You could also talk about jokes that were made not by composers but by listeners, such as rickrolling and combining Megalovania with just about every song in existence.

Have you ever heard of Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band? That album sounds extremely awful, I swear it's hard to listen to. It's unlike anything in this world. Tons of instruments clash together along with no rhythm and it is number 60 at Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time 2012. I heard a preview of the 3rd track and I was dying in laughter. It is truly more awful than any of the songs you have mentioned. Good luck listening to the abomination of Trout Mask Replica.
if you want to suffer listening to the album

Parody music in general can come across as this, but that's kind of a cheat-y answer.

Most of Owl City's songs have some pretty good puns and jokes.
My favorite line is “So if my resolve goes south, I'll swallow my pride with an aspirin and shut my mouth” from his song Dental Care.

Prisencolinensinainciusol by Adriano Celentano
it sounds like English but it's actually just a bunch of gibberish
it's an Italian song and at the time Western songs were really popular in Italy and the creator of this song thought that if he made a song just sound like English then everyone would like it
when he released it, turned out he was correct
it was also meant to represent what English sounded like to non-English speakers

It’s not really a joke, the audience jokes about it, but in Metallica’s album “…And Justice For All” you can barely hear the bass (which James told the producer to do, so it’s on purpose) so a bunch of people joke about it not having bass at all
