I think the user is referring to Scratch Dog as a mascot.

1. Scratch Cat is the mascot because cats scratch, so a person decided from scratch on an idea for Scratch to name the cat Scratch Car because cats scratch.

2. Come on. We have six mascots. We don't need a seventh one; six already seems like a bit too much.

Look, Scratch got its name from scratching the vinyl discs inside of the record player. The ST made the Scratch Cat then, to have an easter egg probably, because Cats Scratch. If there was a Scratch Dog, it should look like wolverine, or something. So, it should be a Bite Dog. It would look like this.

I would say that you could also ask why Microsoft's logo has 4 squares, not 5, for the answer to this.

I'm not really sure why everyone wants a scratch dog, and we actually already have dog sprites. If you want a Scratch Dog, you can always make it yourself.

I agree. making a scratch dog yourself is a solution, but a better way is for scratch to make a scratch dog
