What is the difference between Scratch and Snap?
I saw a link to a programming website called Snap on one of Paddle2See's posts. It looked just like scratch! I was wondering if anyone could tell me some of the differences?

What is the difference between Scratch and Snap?
I saw a link to a programming website called Snap on one of Paddle2See's posts. It looked just like scratch! I was wondering if anyone could tell me some of the differences?Snap! is an HTML5 reimplementation of BYOB, a modification of Scratch 1.4 that adds many new, advanced features. It's programmed by Jens Mönig (@Jens), a former Scratch Team member, and Brian Harvey (@bharvey). Its codebase is completely different from Scratch's, but they're both based off of Scratch 1.4.

Cool. What are some of the different blocks?I don't have time to list them all, but they seem to all be Control, Sensing, Operators, and Variables blocks. Snap! also allows you to to create custom reporter, boolean, and C blocks.

Snap! adds a few higher level computer science concepts to Scratch, such as more first class data (data which doesn't need to be named, like strings and numbers).

What is the difference between Scratch and Snap?
I was looking to see if anybody made another “Spot the Difference!” game like mine…
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/33431218/
…and this topic came up in the results, lol.
I'd never heard of BYOB, so I looked that up, and found a Scratch Wiki that lists the differences -
http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Build_Your_Own_Blocks_%28Scratch_Modification%29
It's interesting, but their site doesn't seem to have the whole social interaction that Scratch offers.

Unlike Scratch, Snap has no social webpage, so no displaying new projects, commenting or remixing. You can store projects in the cloud and publish them, but unless you get the link, nobody can see the project. If you get the link, you can also access the code, but I'm not sure about the license (Scratch is CC-BY, so even allows commercial reuse).
The integrated graphical editor of Snap! is also very frugal, which makes it very hard to make pretty projects.
Apart from that Snap! has a lot of positives offering a resizable stage, runs on every device, and is much better for teaching language concepts than Scratch.
