The ability to merge your own topic
This would only be available to Scratchers, and next to the “Close Topic” button would be a “Merge Topic with …” button that appears when the post gets 20 replies, and it would only be available in Suggestions, and TIPaC, maybe even the Other Languages forum for languages not listed above. In order for a topic to be merged, you must have the link of said duplicate, and the topics must have similar key words, e.g. "Add Colour support for [color] tags“ would be able to merge with ”Color or Colour? Complete Support so far!"
(Yes, I still haven't forgotten that, so I used it as an example).
Any feedback on the suggestion? Any suggestions for the suggestion? Say so down below.

The ability to merge your own topic
It's easy to report a topic to be merged, and this could easily be abused. For example: you make a bad suggestion about color pickers, someone comments “I don't think this is a good suggestion” on it, then you merge it with a good suggestion about color pickers.

What if someone merged their topic with a totally unrelated one?

What if someone merged their topic with a totally unrelated one?The OP said the topics would need to have similar keywords, but this isn't reliable.

This is an interesting idea. I think the button would say “Request to Merge” and then you choose a topic. Then the owner of that topic would receive the request and either accept or decline it, and then they would be merged, without a mod having to step in.
But this has some problems, like a person could get spammed requests, and even if there's a limit for number of merges, it could be from different people. But that's really just like being spammed studio invites. I just feel like two topics shouldn't get merged without either both OP's approval and/or the mods doing it.
I support, even though the details still need to be worked out.

What is merge? I've said this before but this answer didn't help me too much?A topic can be merged with another one by a moderator, which moves all posts to the other topic and deletes the merged one.

Support if new scratchers can't do this because they can merge topics that have nothing in common. And also, less work for the mods!

This is an interesting idea. I think the button would say “Request to Merge” and then you choose a topic. Then the owner of that topic would receive the request and either accept or decline it, and then they would be merged, without a mod having to step in.It also wouldn't work if the OP of the original is inactive. I agree with the fact people could merge unrelated topics by either being confused or a troll. Also, sometimes people finde dupes which aren't actually a dupe but if the topics are already merged then it would be hard to fix. I'm not completely sure on the way merging works but I'm not sure if they would have to create new code for non-admins to do this.
But this has some problems, like a person could get spammed requests, and even if there's a limit for number of merges, it could be from different people. I feel that this feature would be heavily abused by merging topics that have no relation to one another, forcing the mods to pick out all the merged posts and repair the old topic, something that would just be really annoying.
I think that contacting the moderators through the use of the report button if good enough.

I know about that, and that doesn’t prevent abuse coming from a ScratcherI feel that this feature would be heavily abused by merging topics that have no relation to one another, forcing the mods to pick out all the merged posts and repair the old topic, something that would just be really annoying. What if new scracthers couldn't?

What if a Scratcher thinks their topic needs to be merged with a certain one, merged it, but then realizes it should be merged with another one? That’s still a valid problem.

There are still Scratchers who are clueless or have malintent and new Scratchers who are clever and trying to be helpfulI feel that this feature would be heavily abused by merging topics that have no relation to one another, forcing the mods to pick out all the merged posts and repair the old topic, something that would just be really annoying. What if new scracthers couldn't?
