I just have a little question.......... :P

Allo! I was researching on how bans work and it's a bit confusing for me and I'm just wondering, how do bans work? Like what is considerable to be bannable, and how do I avoid it? I'm also wondering there is a music on youtube that I really want to put in a project but it has live chat. I'm just wondering how the st would think about that. Thanks! Hope ur having a good day!

Violations of the guidelines will result in a notice, whether it be an alert or ban, Follow the guidelines and you won’t get banned.

For your question, using the music in a project is fine as long as the lyrics and sound are appropriate for scratch. Don’t link to the stream though.

Any sort of two way chatting project (in Scratch) is not allowed by the scratch team because it's too difficult to moderate; if that's what you mean anyway because i don't really understand what you're trying to say.

There is a forum topic called “Announcements”. Go there, and there is a topic called “The Announcements Directory” on the top. Click that. Go to “Rules and Regulations”. Click the links and review the information.

On the footer of the page are links that say “Community Guidelines” and “Terms of Use”. Review those, too.

These will explain things that will ensure that you don't get banned.

If you do manage to get banned, you'll be in a page like this:

There is a place to make an appeal. Make your cause and promise to follow the guidelines. It will take time for a response, though.

Don't try to evade the ban on another account, though, or the Scratch Team will end up doing this:

You could be muted, which means you cannot comment for a day (or sometimes more) if you break the guidelines repeatedly through comments. If you need to comment sooner, let the Scratch Team know.

No, you cannot take music from YouTube into a project; it breaks YouTube's Terms of Use. Especially not if it is the sole purpose of the project; it's unfair to the author of the music, and it is not expressing your creativity.

this is the difference of a comma and no comma. this right now sounds like they won't thank them, while with a comma it's saying they won't do it, thank you!

The guidelines are here.

Breaking them either on purpose or accidentally will result in an alert, which simply tells you what not to do.

If you keep breaking the Community Guidelines, though, you will get banned. Bans can range from temporary to forever, and further on if you try to create an alternate account to get past a ban, you'll get IP banned. This means that anyone that's on your network will get banned.

I reviewed the Terms of Service. Check it out. I'm not wrong:

The following restrictions apply to your use of the Service. You are not allowed to:

access, reproduce, download, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, alter, modify or otherwise use any part of the Service or any Content except: (a) as expressly authorized by the Service; or (b) with prior written permission from YouTube and, if applicable, the respective rights holders;

It does say you can if those two statements are correct, though. However, let's not forget that projects with the sole purpose of sharing other user's music is not allowed. It is still not expressing creativity in the user, which is actually why exact remixes aren't allowed, either.

Wait I'm confused on what you are tring to say. Can you use a music for a music project or only use it as background music?

Projects that just share music not made by you are not allowed.

The idea is that the project still functions properly if you use the project muted. If you make an animation with music, but the music is muted, it still technically functions properly. A music project without music is literally nothing, however – therefore it would not be allowed.

Okay, just if someone breaks the rules too much they would get banned. To not get banned, obey the rules. Something that can be bannable is disrespecting someone.

A ban is a suspension from the scratch website because the scratcher has violated the Community
Guidelines.

No idea why people keep bumping this thread considering it already got answered, but I'd like to add something partially constructive: Everyone who's told you that the Community Guidelines are the “Scratch rules” has been lying to you this whole time! That's right, there are definitive Scratch rules, and they're listed in the Terms of Use, Section 3. Bet you didn't know that

(Yeah, I didn't actually bet anything, because you may have already known that. I don't want to lose money or anything lol)

The Community Guidelines are rules too, as defined by section 1.3 of the Terms of Use.
