Yes, if you just put in some work into making the art and code for your game, there is no reason your game can't be successful.

It's very simple to do and they pay well compared to other sites. To add your game you just upload the HTML file of your game and add some art (icon, banner, etc.). Crazy Games expects a level of quality out of your game, it needs to pass a number of tests: Is it bug-free? Is fun to play? Is it a game that is likely to interest many people? If your game does not pass these inspections, it will, unfortunately, be denied. It's a terrible feeling to have worked on a game for a long time, only to have it be denied, but don't let it bother you, just fix bugs, improve the gameplay, or just make a whole new game because you'll get it eventually.
That being said, don't expect to be able to retire young just because you put a Scratch game of all things on a free game website. It's extremely hard to make any substantial amount of money off Scratch and if you're lucky you will get enough money to buy some pretzels from a gas station, but don't be discouraged by this. There have been in rare cases successful games made on Scratch such as Paper Minecraft and Flappy Bird, each received a massive amount of views on external websites, so don't lose all hope, I'm just saying don't get your hopes up.

Profiting off Scratch projects is allowed on Scratch under Scratch's Terms of Use, Rules of Usage: 3.6

Yes, there are a few quality Scratch games out there. But not many. Also a lot of the more impressive projects are really old for some reason. Maybe the community was different back then?

I might actually try this site. Currently, I only have 1 game which I consider to be worth going on an external site (Car Parking Challenge).
There's also only 2 “flight sims” on the entire platform. Maybe I can join in with that.

One thing no one mentioned here is that there is a minimum payout, so you can't actually get paid a small amount of money.
The payout is monthly with a minimum of 80 euros. If the revenue doesn't reach 80 euros in a month, it's carried over to the next month. We pay via Paypal. For people in Europe, we can also pay via Wire Transfer.

Well, that didn't happen.

I realised that most of those games won't work due to copyright and all that stuff with the assets I use.

Fortunately, I did find one project of mine that can work, Lineland 2. I submitted my project to the site (under the new name Colour Nodes) a few hours ago and now I just have to wait and see what will happen.

Looks like it has been rejected now.

That's not a problem though. I don't make my Scratch projects purely for this (they are Scratch projects, for Scratch), and I never actually planned to monetise anything here.

I have actually been earning money though a completely different thing - selling assets for 3D computer graphics such as models or textures. Just in the past 2 months since I started, I have already earnt about $17 USD. I consider this a success.

For those who are looking to make a little more bank than a pretzel bag, there are options out there.
I was chatting with my friends over at Coolmath Games, and they're willing to offer $613 CAD upfront for a quality game of about an hour of playtime without exclusive licensing.

This sounds like a lot of money for some younglings, but they'd expect an actual quality game that'd be put on the App Store. So take a second and consider how long it'd take you to make the game, and divide that paycheque by your hours, and that's your hourly wage. If that's below minimum wage in your country, I'd consider doing this more as a hobby job. In Canada, you'd work 43 hours or less to make more than working at a Timmies.

This is also considering you have a portfolio of games, and your games aren't made in Scratch. This might come as a shocker, but if a publisher is wanting to pay $613 CAD, he's not looking for something that's glitchy, 30 FPS, locked aspect ratio and require a green flag click to start. There are get arounds for this, but if you want to be making games at an accurate speed for the industry, I recommend you swap to Unity. Again, this isn't for beginners, but for those looking for what to do next to keep some cash flow coming in. The truth is, if it's a paycheque you're looking for, something like Crazy Games probably won't cut it. If you do have extra games you'd like to publish, it could work out for you, though.



Here's some information they passed on that I thought I'd paste here

  • How much money are you willing to pay for licensing?
    We will review your game and if we’re interested in licensing it we’ll offer you an upfront payment for the game. Typically this will be about $500 USD for a rookie developer but it does vary quite a bit depending on length and quality of the game.

  • Does the game have to be exclusively on your site for a certain amount of time?
    We do not require any exclusivity, even for a limited time. You are totally free to do with your game as you wish on other sites, on the app stores, etc.

  • How many levels would a game require?
    This varies quite a bit depending on the type of game but 30 is a good starting point. Generally speaking for a level based game we’d expect at least an hour of playtime as a minimum (not speedrun) for someone playing the game through to the end.

If anyone would like to discuss it on my profile, feel free to. Please note I'm no expert nor professional though.

I think you need really high experience in scratch to make the best game atleast as good as 1/2 percent of griffpatch or something or else even if you try to earn money by using sheeptester converter to upload to the crazygames or itch.io is almost useless. People may dislike the game for it's simplicity. Even scratch isn't highly capable to make really awesome 3d games which people are recently liking and also a technical limitation in size for good speed. Because even if the project is really large and awesome it takes really highly long to load after converted which will iritate the gamers sometimes

I think that comparing games to griffpatch's games is not the way to go, griffpatch makes very technically advanced games, you do not have to however, sometimes simple games are the way to go. There are settings you can tweak withing different converters to make your project faster, and to raise the fps limit, therefore making your game a better experience to play.
