Why does _:)_ look like a sad face?

So there's a bunch of hidden faces you can put in comments on the main site
by typing in a specific string (like _:D_ or _P:_), but there's this one face that's always confused me…

Why does the cat look sad, even though the code is _:)_?

I don't think that it was supposed to look sad. Based on how the eyes look, I think they were just going for making it look like a cat with the mouth, and it just accidentally looked sad when it was finished. I'm sure it's fine.

Well at the picture's actual size it looks fine, but when they shrink it down…

A page on the scratch wiki actually talks about this! Saying: (While this looks like a sad face, it still is used when expressing happiness).
I think it is kind of a surprised happy in a way like a sorta surprised happy blushing .

It looks fine until sized down. Use other emojis, like , etc. Also use the Scratch Wiki for more info

Because the image is blurred. It blurs the w on the cats face and blurs it to make it look like n
