Anyone Know how large the scratch project screen is?

I want to upload a background but it keeps being too short.

Whats the pixel length and width of a scratch project?

also, how do you create a signature?

The Scratch stage is 480 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall. You change your signature by going to the Discussion Homepage and scrolling down to where it says “Change your signature”.

The resolution actually has two answers. If going by the pixels that the blocks use, then the project is 480 pixels across by 360 pixels high. This is an aspect ratio of 4:3.
However, images can be higher resolution. Projects can actually handle resolutions twice the dimensions, at 960*720. This is the highest resolution supported. If you upload an image at 960*720, that is what you will get, without loss in quality. The image will be shrunken down to fit the screen, where the width of two pixels of that image is equivalent to the width of one pixel of what Scratch reports. This is where the idea of a “half pixel” comes from, if you have heard of it around Scratch. The “half pixel” being the smaller pixel used for images of 960*720.

It's not possible to resize the stage, unfortunately. You could try recording your entire screen and cropping it down so only the actual project is visible, but I don't think you'd be able to do much more than that.

There are some Scratch mods that allow you to make a project in a 16: 9 aspect ratio, though you'll probably have to poke around in the advanced topics for it, and if I remember, it is a bit experimental.

Not that I'm aware of, but if you keep combing through the advanced topics, there's a chance you could find one.
