Scratch 2.0 and Picoboard

Does Scratch 2.0 still support and work with the Picoboard? If, so, are there any changes in how the connection is set up?

Scratch 2.0 and Picoboard

Well, answered my own question…I had searched for Picoboard and not ScratchBoard. For anyone else with this question…

Planned for Summer 2013
Download an off-line version of the Scratch project editor to use without an Internet connection
Connect to external devices with new Scratch extensions (including LEGO WeDo and the ScratchBoard)

It's socket-based stuff, so I'm guessing you need to run an external program that redirects Picoboard traffic through a gateway into scratch.

Actually, it already does.

Shift-click “Edit” and click on “Show sensor board blocks”

I THINK these are working, although I haven't been able to use it yet, so maybe it is a WIP thing? Although if it were, why would this forum thread be up?

Also, it is not a serial thing. It is USB from 2009 on. And, finally, you need drivers for it. Phew.

Moving on from Scratch, to much bigger things. It's gonna be one fun adventure.

However, they still work, so you can use them. They're just hidden, like the custom block colors.

Scratch 2.0 and Picoboard

Does anyone have any more information on this? I was able to add the PicoBoard extension in Scratch 2.0 and program with the sensor blocks. However, I am unable to select the COM port for my PicoBoard. (You used to be able to do this by right clicking the “sensor watcher” in Scratch 1, which doesn't seem to be part of Scratch 2.0.) I have a class set of PicoBoards the kids are dying to use - any info would be much appreciated!

That will only give you the blocks. You also need a helper app. And that's not available (yet, I hope).

I agree with sdmeijer about the blocks but I don't know about this “helper app”. If it will exist, when? I've just bought a PicoBoard and it works perfectly with 1.4. The only solution I can think of is to use 1.4 as you can still do most of the stuff.

The helper app will be available at the end of spring (hopefully).
The helper app for Lego WeDo is in beta test ATM.

Well, then is correct to say picoboard is not working w/ Scratch 2.0 yet, but in Scratch 1.4 & others like a S4A or Snap yes?

Can we keep this thread on topic please?
The original question is about the Picoboard.
For WeDo's are other threads on this forum.

This way it everyone can keep track on the availability of different extensions.

Just could not get my Picoboard to work with my retina Macbook Pro running OSX 10.9.2. Tried both 1.4 and 2.0, both not working…
