A rather serious question.

Does the Scratch 2.0 Offline Editor not have lag problems? (I tried running a project that worked fine in 1.4 on the online editor, and it had massive lag issues.)

Curious, because this becomes a problem when you're trying to update a project from 1.4 in 2.0.

I literally don't know what to put here anymore.

A rather serious question.

The Scratch 1.4 and 2.0 editors are different in two ways: 1.4 uses Smalltalk, the 2.0 uses Flash. So if you have an outdated version of Flash, that can explain a few things.

Another way they differ is that several months ago, Adobe removed PixelBender support from Flash, and PixelBender is what makes graphic effects fast. Smalltalk never did anything similar. So if your project uses a lot of graphic effects, that can lag Scratch 2.0 more then Scratch 1.4.

That's all I can think of at the moment. If you want to, I'd be willing to look at one of your lagging projects and look for a few ways to cut down on the lag.

Thoughts,

Correct, besides the fact that 1.4 actually has nothing to do with Java, it runs Smalltalk (on the Squeak platform).

@amgames:
Ops… my mistake. I got the Java Player and the Scratch 1.4 offline editor a bit mixed up… thank for pointing that out! I'll fix it in a second.

By the way, welcome to the wonderful world of Scratch @amgames! I hope that you'll have a fun time here!

Welcomes,
