this is something i've always wanted and i think it would be a really neat feature for people who regular on the forums.

essentially, the idea is being able to highlight text in a forum post and then quote it into your post.

it's hard to explain it with words so here look at some images to see what i mean:


this is how a chat website handles text selection, the use case for this is kind of different but the concept is similar


this is what another forum software does when you select text in a post, it shows a quote button which allows you to easily put a quote inside of your post


this, is what i'm suggesting.

when selecting text in a post, it should create a tooltip which allows you to add the quote to your post.

Yeah, but when you're trying to snip a very large post, It get's pretty messy. I support this, because it would not only be easier to snip, but more people would do it, I think, too.

Well, it's not on TOLORS, and most people don't look through every post to ever exist to find a more accurate list. I guess I'll report to be closed, then.

would it really be that difficult to implement though? perhaps this could be considered when the forums hopefully eventually migrate to a more popular or modern forum system.

If we ever get a new forum system, I would be willing to take this as a suggestion. I think it could be useful.
