Two Separate Sections in Show and Tell

You presumably know that the Show and Tell category is in disarray. You post your advertisement, and it is significantly slim that someone will actually notice it. The game code topics are bumping and pushing genuine advertisements out of the way. But what if the show and tell had two different sections? A projects/studios and miscellaneous section! The miscellaneous section is for game codes.

There would be an option when creating a post to choose what category your post will be in. It will be blank at first, preventing your topic to be posted until you select one. If you click either projects/studios or miscellaneous, you will then be able to publish your post, of course with Scratch's 60/120-second cooldown.

How can we put the current topics in the right place? Well, there are two things I've thought of. One can be a detector that detects words like “game codes”, and another one that detects long game code strings that users post in these game code threads. Evidently, the detector won't be flawless, so of course, our users/forum helpers can report topics in their right place.

It's an interesting idea… how would it work? Would Show and Tell have its own forum category and split up into two forums?

Yes, show and tell will have the two categories so if someone would want to see some projects, you can go to the projects forum and your project is more vulnerable to getting played in show and tell!

I actually believe I have seen something similar to this, I'm still searching for it.

Nevermind, the suggestion I saw was about splitting the request forums(but it was kinda similar).

yeah getting topics closed is pretty much the forum helpers job

I support, the Show and Tell forum is a gigantic mess.

I support I think this would be way easier to find projects to look at instead of just finding videos and stuff.

Support. Show and Tell right now is just free advertising and is hard to find something you really want to see.

This won't solve anything. The reason why people don't click on project links is because they don't want to. Having a dedicated section for it isn't going to solve that; if anything it will just make a sad pile of projects of dubious quality that no one wants to visit.

If someone was bored on scratch and would want to play a project, they can go on the project section without the whole SaT being filled with game codes and other mess. I did an experiment too, when there were no game codes or junk on the first row, more people played projects instead of doing other *.

How many people would actually do that though, then say, press the Explore button? Very few visit the forums in general.

Haha, the only projects in explore are from griffpatch. Most people would like to try something new for a change and LOTS of people visited the forums before. And this will kinda solve the bump problem too!

If most people would like something new, then why is he and a lot of others still popular?

Because they are everywhere! Not just explore, Scratch is like social media, it's everywhere! You will always hear for a popular thing everywhere cause it's popular.

That seems like a real problem. If there was a dropdown on the Explore page where users could simply click twice to be a menu lush with diverse projects, where even the quality is of all parts of the spectrum, and it isn't hidden like the forum, that would solve this issue.

Honestly, I support. It's a huge mess, and if you try to advertise, well, good luck getting any traction from it. The most popular things I see are game codes anyway.

What about broken show and tell mess? Still, I litterally bump my topic for no reason and I get so freakin' mad!

calm down, let out your anger
