What do you use to make pixel art?

Hi everyone! I am trying to make a game, but the pixel art part is really annoying and tedious to make in scratch. Do you have an alternative to scratch where I could make the pixel art for the game and then import it to scratch? Or is there a trick I don't know about?

I think Scratch had a tutorial on their YouTube channel. Let me fetch a link.

EDIT: Scratch made a tutorial on YouTube on how to make Pixel Art using Scratch :)

Yes, I knew what was covered in the video, but where I am having trouble is the fact that it is hard to make frames for a characters movement as you cannot see the previous frame. What would be a way around this?

the best way to do it in Scratch would probably be to duplicate the previous frame and re-color it to differentiate between what you are drawing on the frame.
if you want to do it on another website though, Piskel is pretty good, and it has a feature that will allow you to see the previous frame.
edit: oh yea, Piskel is also free which is pretty cool

Piskel is one of the best, and my recommendation.

procreate allows you to have pixel art and onion skin, and much more, but you have to create a custom brush for the pixel art. its $7.99

I like Aseprite. Has a ton of features, suitable for both indie and commercial development. It normally costs like $15, but if you're tech-savvy you can compile it yourself from source, legally and for free.
