RGBA color sliders

- the suggestion - part 1 -
I think that, in the costume editor, there should be the option to switch between HSV (hue, saturation, brightness) and RGB (red, green blue) sliders for color input. A lot of programmers use RGB instead of HSV, so this would be useful for them.

- the suggestion - part 2 -
I also think that alpha or transparency sliders should be added to Scratch. Right now, we only get the choice of full color and full transparency. The process to get a translucent color is tedious: you have to make a transparent gradient with your color choice, select a small region, stretch it to the entire screen, and repeat until the color is smooth. Now, I know ghost effect is a thing, but this would let you create translucent parts within a sprite.

- pros -
+ Alpha sliders could make adding translucent colors way more easier

- cons -
- Alpha sliders could lag Scratch a lot

- supporters -

  • Monna-Uka (supports RGB)
  • -Exphire- (supports alpha)

- thoughts? -

I support the first, but the second suggestion will lag Scratch a lot, and if I was right it's rejected somewhere.

Support for the transparency part! It would make some projects much easier if, say I am making a house game and the window looks outside. I want to see that part, but are my slats and curtains gonna be like that? Probably not. I want that to be added! I however think that it is easier to get more scaled colors on some projects with the current picker method and therefore like it better for most of my projects. (for example, platformers set in a cave or volcano. It is easier to scale colors and make a color scheme like that.) Overall, semi-support because I want transparency sliders, but I like the current color picker just fine.

Well, I'm not asking to replace the current system, just add a way to switch between them.

For the second part, a way to get transparent colors is to

1) Install Paint.Net (Although not the best, it's better than MS Paint)

2) Once you finished all of that, you should see something like this:

3) You see in the bottom-right corner where it says Alpha? Adjust it to something lower than 255 for a pretty transparent color.

4) Save your picture and upload it to scratch and boom, there it is.

For transparent vector images, use this (it's free): https://inkscape.org/

What if not everyone has, or wants to get, Paint.NET? (I have it, but that's beside the point)

An RGB “mode” is a duplicate.
