Is there a maximum file size for Mp3's or Wav's?

I've been trying to upload a sound file for one of my games, but I can't get it to work, whenever I upload it just creates one second sound of nothing. The file I'm uploading is about a minute and fifty seconds long and is 1.74 mb. Does anyone know why it won't upload, is it because the file size is too big?

Thanks,

The maximum file size for mp3s and wavs is just under 50MB, because 50MB is the total project size limit. When scratch uploads sounds, it first turns them into wavs. This may be increasing your file size. Try manually converting your mp3 into a wav with Audacity or something similar and see how big it becomes.

OK, also the file is really long, making it shorter might help.

Sometimes longer .wav files don't work. If you're using a wave file, then convert it to .mp3 format before uploading (a free, safe, online file converter can be found at zamzar.com).

Converting to mp3 is useless since Scratch converts it into wav anyway.

Replying to the question… Scratch converts mp3s into wavs and since wavs are much bigger, your file could easily have exceeded the 50MB project limit. (This limit includes the one file for the scripts, the files for each costume and sound, and the files for each sprite.) You might just want to cut down the length of the file externally before uploading it, and you should be good.~~~~

Since this topic hasn't seen a new post from the topic owner in a long time, I'm going to assume that it is dead and close the topic. If it still is alive, the topic owner just needs to use the Report button to ask a mod to reopen it
