SEGA SATURN SHIRO!
Segata Sanshiro was an advertising campaign by Sega running from 1997 to 1998. It featured the eponymous Segata Sanshirom (Kamen Rider) beating up people who don't play Sega Saturn.
At least for the first few commercials. Later commercials had him dating his waifu, cloning himself, cheating in sports, cutting a fish, smashing stone planks with his head, saving the life of a single mother in a burning house, redirecting a missile headed toward Sega of Japan's headquarters into outer space to protect the launch of the Sega Dreamcast, etc.
I'd link to the commercials, but two in particular could be a little intense for younger viewers.
No idea why this advertising campaign never came to America.

I'm guessing because internet culture at the time didn't allow for something like Segata Sanshiro to become popular. In my opinion, I think that Segata Sanshiro was only able to really take off in popularity in the west once most people had moved away from dial-up and switched to broadband internet and when online video sites became popular because the videos have the most impact. No idea why this advertising campaign never came to America.
If SEGA released a console now, they could use Segata Sanshiro advertising internationally and it'd probably work.
