Usually every day when I click into Scratch I see a new featured project. But for 2-3 days now the newest featured project is ‘The Planets’. Why is this happening? Is the ST on vacation or running out of projects to feature? Is the a problem with my browser?

My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 75.0.3770.100, No Flash version detected

Also, it seems that ST is running out of studios to put on the ‘featured studios’ panel. The studios before were more vague, more kinds of project could be added, but now, the studios seem to be pin-pointing onto a small title. (e.g. before there was a ‘sports’ studio, now it becomes ‘Scratch Wizarding World’)

Yeah. “Journey Of Crane” is 1 year old. The front page's system is ruined now (this is my thought)

Age of the project does not matter at all. We just feature inspiring projects that show a good use of Scratch and encourage remixing. Especially considering the creator is still active on Scratch — thus, someone is likely enjoying their feature. It's not really unfair at all.

To answer the OP's question, I'm guessing that the 4th of July holiday is likely contributing to this. People are traveling and trying to get work done quickly — it's possible that featuring projects have slipped our mind.

Oh, I thought he/she was using ‘over-stuff’ and meant that it had been on the front page for one year…

I mean, these projects get to been on the top for longer, so that’s unfair…
