Remove the close topic button for topics in the suggestions forum

I recently saw a suggestion where discussion was happening, but then the topic creator suddenly closed it. I felt like they shouldn't have been allowed to do that, because people were still talking about the suggestion and they had no reason to close it.

My suggestion is to remove the close topic button for topics in the suggestions forum.
________________________________________________________

Reasons this would be good:
  • The topic creator won't be allowed to stop other people from discussing a suggestion they want.
  • People won't need to create a new topic to keep discussing, which would have caused two topics about the same suggestion and discussion in different places.
Reasons this would be bad:
  • They might want to close their suggestion because nobody supports or there is a very simple workaround. (said by coder2045)
  • Adding this suggestion takes more work than just reporting to reopen the topic. (said by Botcho_Otkho)
  • When the topic creator knows that there is a reason to close the suggestion and doesn't want to disturb the scratch team, they can't just close it (said by dhuls)
  • People could want to close their topic because they don't have the time to edit the suggestion to include everything people have said (said by GullumIncComicz)
Post your thoughts and I'll add them!

Things to remember when you are replying:
  • Don't restate pros and cons that are already in the lists above, contribute new ideas.
  • This post is only about the suggestions forum.

I might close this topic at any time

I did that to one of my topics because the first ~10 posts were all “No Support”.

I got the idea from someone.
63.1% of statistics have an extra decimal point.
12-88% of statistics are really imprecise.
25% (1/2) of statistics have obvious miscalculations.
0.61% of statistics are made-up.
23 of statistics are missing the percent symbol.
XXIX% of statistics are confusing.

No Support. I think that the close topic feature should be available on every forum. If OP realises that their suggestion is rejected and wanted to close it or if there's a simple workaround, introducting that feature means they wouldn't be able to close their topic.

No support, it would be very annoying to people who want to close their topics because no one supports them. It would also be more work for the Scratch Team because people wpuld have to keep reporting topics to be closed.

Cartoon Network is just Teen Titans Go which is bad. Go watch Nickelodeon instead

And then? Your post is not really useful to the discussion.

Other than what has been said above, if a discussion was happening but the topic has been suddenly closed, one may report the topic in order to get it reopened.

No Support. What about users who will close their topic deliberatively?

What reasons might they have to close their topic? (other than because nobody supports or there is a very simple workaround; 3 people have already said those).

No Support.
The cons outweigh the pros. Like, if it was rejected, wouldn't it just make more work for the ST?

How to create a signature:
Go here; or
Go to the bottom left of the discussion home page, and press “Change your signature”.
I have no idea if I'm using that semicolon correctly

No support, since I've seen suggestions that were really good, but the last post said something like, “Congratulations, guys, you've picked out EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING JUST TO NO SUPPORT. I hope you're happy, because you've made a suggestion look bad just because you people can't give solutions to these stupid problems.” and it was closed. If it wasn't closed, they would make the person feel even worse since they picked out every little problem and didn't fix it.

Generation 1. Copy and paste this into your siggy, then increase the generation by 1. Then say you continued the generation on @GullumIncComicz profile and the number of your generation. If your generation was already commented, then remove this from your siggy.

These topics have reason to be closed by their creators:
1) The topics that people create for help. When they solve problem, they can close topic.
2) The topics that people create for a teaser. When project is out, they can close topic.
3) The topics that people create for a game/animation. When the topics have to many posts so it lags, they can close topic.
I think these are enough reasons. Because there are a lot of example of these reasons.

I think you misread the title and the first post; this suggestion is just for the suggestions forum
