Applying effects to Text to Speech

The Text to Speech extension is extremely useful, but not very customizable. I have a project, and I'm using Text to Speech as a sort of public address system, but the tenor voice doesn't echo enough, especially since the PA occurs indoors.

Is there a way to apply effects to Text to Speech, specifically making it echo more? I can use third party software if it helps.

Prior thanks for any replies.

i don't think it's possible to actually put effects onto it. however, you can use a different website for text-to-speech, download the audio file, and then upload it into scratch, where you'll be able to edit it to make it echo. (sorry f you already know this, i'm just trying to help..)

Actually, I didn't know. Thank you for the suggestion! Seems efficient, I'll get it working.

Thank you so much!

Applying effects to Text to Speech

Hey there!

I hope you realized that this was not exactly what I meant by a “slow speech engine”. The say block just becomes slower when that sort of clock talks to you in the game. Sorry if I disappointed you, but I do not think there is any way to use effects in the text-to-speech. If you want that, then voice acting may be the only way.

Thanks for reading! Bye!

Don't worry. I found another text to speech engine, called eSpeak. Essentially, it is more featured than Scratch's is. What I do is I let the engine do it's job, then export it to a WAV. Then, I use Audacity (an audio editor) to apply an echo to it.

Thank you so much for all your ideas!
