I created this topic so people could get more help with the Micro:bit! You can also share projects that people can run on their Micro:bit and studios that might help you while coding with this cool extension!

When posting a comment with Scratch Blocks for the micro:bit make sure to include the right block names and colors. Here's some sample Scratch Block BBCode,
when button [A v] pressed :: hat :: #00A276
[scratchblocks]
when button [A v] pressed :: hat :: #00A276
[/scratchblocks]
(tilt angle (front v) :: #00A276
[scratchblocks]
(tilt angle (front v) :: #00A276
[/scratchblocks]

These blocks are pretty hard to replicate on your own if you need any help please ask me, or another experienced scratcher.

Hi @ajsya,

I'm a beginner with attaching the Microbit to Scratch 3 so please, if you know what my problem is, explain it in very clear English. I have used my Microbit with MS Makecode and Python before with no difficulties. I am, now, trying to use it with Scratch 3 on the web on MS Edge. I get this error msg when I try to open Scratch Link: Scratch Link was unable to start because port 20110 is already in use. Either Scratch Link is already running or another application is using that port.

I presume port 20110 is a kind of virtual port not one of the USB ports on my PC. Any help would be much appreciated. I've never downloaded the Chrome browser but if you think that would help I'll do that.

Thanks,

Anne

I use a Mac computer but from what I understand I think Scratch Link maybe is already running. Have you tried connecting the micro:bit to the online Scratch editor yet?

Thanks. Yes, I tried that but it said ‘No device’. We think port 20110 is being used for something else on my PC. But I'll keep looking here and see if anyone has any further suggestions. I'm going to try Scratch Link on a different PC too and will put a report here if I'm successful.

No success yet @ajsya . I think it's that Bluetooth isn't enabled on my PC. When I followed the instructions for Windows 10 in Settings called Enable Bluetooth , the right question Bluetooth enabled Yes/No? didn't come up so I'm going to have to consult with someone else who might know why.

Ironically, Bluetooth is enabled on my Raspberry Pi but, as yet, there is no version of Scratch Link for Linux/Raspbian machines, such as the R Pi.
Scratch Link is only available for the PC or Mac so far.

Back to the drawing board!
