An “advanced blocks” extension has been rejected here and here, and toss this one in with this one, which was closed as a dupe of this one. But wait—there's more and more and more and throw in this. And I'm not done yet—take this! and that's just one page of ocular results!

Over the years, many suggestions for new blocks have been rejected on the grounds that they would be confusing to new users.

The “advanced blocks” suggestion was essentially to create a new extension in the Scratch 3.0 editor, similar to the Pen and Music extensions, that would contain more complicated blocks that new users might find confusing. The idea was that hiding such blocks behind an extension would make new Scratchers less likely to stumble upon them and get confused.

The suggestion has been rejected on several occasions for a few different reasons. These posts by Za-Chary and Paddle2See offer a pretty concise explanation.

From the looks of it, Beetle Blocks was a Snap! mod that enabled 3D functionality, similar to the rejected 3D Scratch suggestion.

According to their website, there is a new “3D Beetle” extension for Snap! that acts as a replacement for Beetle Blocks, so it's not completely gone.

From the looks of it, Beetle Blocks was a Snap! mod that enabled 3D functionality, similar to the rejected 3D Scratch suggestion.

According to their website, there is a new “3D Beetle” extension for Snap! that acts as a replacement for Beetle Blocks, so it's not completely gone.

So, I guess 1.7 needs to be updated.

this has come up multiple times and no one has been able to convence Za-cherry to do so.
