The Official List of Rejected Suggestions

Based on this post, I am removing the following quote from 8.5:

“This includes deleting inactive accounts for any reason, including ”name sniping“ accounts as well as accounts that appear to have no activity at all. The Scratch Team sees no need to take down any accounts at this time to reuse usernames, free up server space, or for any other reason.”

Also, aside from the posts I respond to below, I am not going to entertain any further discussion on this thread about renaming Scratch. My decisions that I state below about it are final. If you have further questions about this, you may ask me on my profile.

Thanks. I probably don't need to add it to the list since it is not being suggested often.

All of these were from the last month.
No. It is clear that these are joke suggestions which were not made in good faith. Having a group of users suggest something multiple times that they think is funny does not count as being “frequently suggested.” The suggestion seems “obviously rejected” anyway, so for that reason I also don't need to add it to the list. Please stop making new suggestions about this, and please stop bringing it up in this thread.

Agreed. It's taking up too much space in this discussion and has been suggested multiple times. Even if they're all joke suggestions, adding it to the list would make it easier to just get the joke topics closed.
Everybody needs to remember that joke topics should be reported and not responded to. Adding this to the list won't make it any easier to get the joke topics closed since they should be reported regardless. This is a list of rejected suggestions, not merely a list of topics that will get closed.

Fun_Cupcake_i81 wrote:

Wait, I noticed the suggestion about adding certain words to the filter because they have unoffensive context sometimes was removed… Does that mean that the Scratch Team is considering it now? Should we stop saying those words in any context?
I'm not aware of it being considered at the moment. I had to remove this entry because Scratchers were frequently (incorrectly) quoting it to claim that these words are always okay to say. In particular, some Scratchers were using this quote as justification to evade the forum filter, which isn't okay.

starlightsparker wrote:

It is because those words are not recommended, and may certainly be removed in some contexts, and perhaps, depending on the moderator, in all contexts.
I’d say it’s a grey area, if you will.
Yeah, I believe some users were confused as to why they got alerted for saying those words when “TOLORS says it's allowed.” But it didn't, from what I remember.

Censoring dead people's names is rejected - thankfully.
There's also another rejected topic, but I'm not sure if I should link it since the topic breaks (or is very close to breaking) the Community Guidelines.
Thanks. I probably don't need to add it to the list since it is not being suggested often.

Coughfe wrote:

This is more related to the source of the post, but I think I should say this anyways.

Some of the rejected topic URLs listed (see below) are using the “topic/ID/?page=ID?post-ID” format instead of “post/ID”. Could they be replaced?

Particularly:
  • 2.1 and up (until 2.7 which is the last of that section)
  • Sections 3, 4 and 5 (except 5.7), most of sections 7-9 (including “This topic” hyperlinks, atleast some) and the entirety of section 10
Sorry for how much this is asking for, this is a really minor thing since TOLoRS itself is 67 525 / 200 000, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
I've been using the post/ID links whenever I add a new entry to the list. This is something I want to do, but I haven't had the chance to do it. Now that the forums load quickly, I may be able to do it faster. When I finish writing this post, I'll update some of them at least in Section 2, and see if I can continue this later.

UPDATE: I have now done this for all sections except for 7, 8, 9. (Those ones are long…) Feel free to remind me to continue this work next week.

DifferentDance8 wrote:

Okay, but why does this really matter all that much? Not being rude, it's just that the “topic/ID/?page=ID?post-ID” format works as well as the “post/ID” format
There is another benefit. Let's suppose the closing post was post #21, so it is “king of the second page.” Then topic/ID/?page=ID?post-ID will have topic/ID/?page=2?post-ID since the post is on the second page. At that point I paste it into the list. But then suppose a moderator decides that some other post in the thread is inappropriate and must be deleted, so now the closing post is not on page #2 anymore, so the topic/ID/?page=2?post-ID link will not work (since the linked post is no longer on page 2). On the contrary, post/ID links won't run into this problem.

If I recall correctly, there were a couple of “broken” links on TOLORS over the years where the problem came from this link format.

Would Liking/upvoting comments be rejected under 6.4? I know it's not exactly the same suggestion, but it's similar in that it increases the “social media” aspect of Scratch and would also drastically increase server load, both of which are reasons why 6.4 is rejected.

Edit: Woah, death page 444, and it's faster than ever! TOLORS lives on!
