Are gradients still around and I just haven't found them?

Yes, once you click on the color selection there are some squares at the top that, once you select, bring up a second color for the gradient.

This is the gradient panel, and I've highlighted the squares you click to bring it up.

Now that I am actually trying to do this, I can't find those squares o-o

Notice that the squares do not come up sometimes because the shape is selected. Select the “Fill Tool”, and you can now use it.

use gradient by making one of the colors transparent

But how do I get the gradient block options? When I go on there is only the solid colours. Someone help me!
