Scratch 1.4-3.0 compatibility findings
Hello!
I found out some facts about compatibility between Scratch 1.4 and the new Scratch 3.0. Here they are:
1. Scratch 1.4 can still upload projects to the scratch website. The projects won't be shared when you upload them, and you can share them after uploading them. Just like in 2.0.
2. The
3. Scratch 1.4 projects can be downloaded as .sb files, but the feature can't be found on a button like in 2.0. Instead, use the URL https://projects.scratch.mit.edu/internalapi/project/…/get/
, replacing … with your project's ID.
Here's a project uploaded using 1.4 after 3.0 was released.
4. Scratch 1.4 can still be downloaded at https://scratch.mit.edu/scratch_1.4/ . However, the page doesn't seem to have been updated to 3.0, as it calls 1.4 the previous version of Scratch, and mentions that 2.0 projects can't be opened in 1.4 (but doesn't mention 3.0).

2. The
<loud?::sensing>block, which was obsolete (displayed as red and couldn't be found in any menu) in 2.0, seems to be supported in 3.0, as it now is the same shade of blue as the sensing blocks, even though it doesn't show up in the block palette. It's a sort of hidden sensing block.

Did you know? Cloud variables can store just over one kilobyte of data.
This sentence has thirty-one letters.

You can still obtain Scratch 1.x projects from https://projects.scratch.mit.edu/internalapi/project/…/get/.
All watchers are hidden, and their position and settings aren't preserved. Also, (for me, at least, on Safari 11.0.3) most costumes and backgrounds are blank, but that doesn't affect Scratch Desktop.

Thanks! This seems to work with 1.4 projects uploaded during 2.0 and 3.0. I'll put this in the original post. You can still obtain Scratch 1.x projects from https://projects.scratch.mit.edu/internalapi/project/…/get/.

That's the name they give to .sb files, to make them fit into the sb2/sb3 naming scheme. But the actual file extensions haven't changed to sb1 anywhere, I think. .sb files are now .sb1 i think

This topic hasn't been posted on for a year, and so posting here is not appropriate.
As a reply to your post, the whole point of Scratch releasing new releases is to make updates. It makes zero sense for the Scratch Team to update a nearly 11 year old version of Scratch.
Also please don't blockspam (even if it's in a small amount)
