PROBLEMS WITH SCRATCH 3.0!!! IMPORTANT ARGUMENT!! PLEASE LOOK!!!!

So I just saw this project https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/266213901/ and it was “What Famous Scratchers Think About Scratch 3.0” I've noticed that MANY programmers do not like the new editor, and here is why. Scratch is going for much younger audiences than they were before I feel like. The blocks are bigger, there is now a “Wacky” section in the sound library, and all in all its easier to use for younger kids. However, there are many older and more serious scratchers out there such as me, griffpatch, and many others. I mean, like why doesn't scratch make a “pro/for older ages” editor, then another version more for kids and more like the new scratch 3.0. I thought that's what Scratch Jr was, a editor that is for younger age groups. If you want to support me in this argument, please post forums and do whatever you can to convince the scratch team. Thanks so much!!!!

And what is wrong with SCRATCH going for younger audiences? If SCRATCH is a friendly website, then it is supposed to be for kids. The animated design may not be the best, but it could be a major change. Give 3.0 a chance, it hasn't even came out yet.

It would be so much better if they made a version for older audiences!!! Its not like everyone who likes scratch is 5 years old. Griffpatch is an adult and he LOVES scratch!

Actually, the majority of scratch users are age 12, around 3.4 million. So yes, scratch is catering to a younger audience.

But that doesn't mean there are older coders out there on scratch.

and plus, it doesnt matter if they are 11 or 12 or 13, what matters if they are serious and advanced coders.

Scratch is for everyone, therefore why do they need to make 2 Scratch's? Also I remember hearing somewhere that the bigger blocks are for mobile users, so they can grab them easier. I also remember hearing somewhere that Scratch Jr is offline only, so it's meant to teach the basics I guess, but how would you make a Scratch that is more fit for older people and more advanced than it already is? If you really want a more advanced Scratch you can always try text coding. If griffpatch can make paperminecraft in Scratch, then what's stopping you from doing the same? Only your ability and persistence, not Scratch.

im not saying scratch should be more advanced than it is, im saying that there should be a less advanced version for younger audiences, or a scratch jr for the computer

As I've stated, Scratch is meant for everyone, so then why should they make a watered down version of normal Scratch?

Making blocks bigger doesn't mean you can't code as effectively or as complicated as you do now, the Scratch Team is making it easier for people on mobile. Nothing much of the actual coding aspect changed, only the visual parts.

Why would you divide the community? As stated earlier, Scratch is meant to be for everyone. If you think that you and others are more “serious” coders, then why don't you move on to different languages, and learn more new things? Scratch is meant to teach you the bases of programming, and once you get the bases, that's when you move on to newer things. I have been doing Scratch for nearly a year now (I know, that's nothing compared to some people), and I think that it was enough to teach me the bases.
On the other point, everyone seems to be complaining about the looks and aesthetics of 3.0. I don't think that this is the main thing we should focus about. People should focus more instead on the bugs that we can encounter rather than the looks of the new GUI. The big blocks are more convenient for mobile users, and you can zoom out if you think that they are too big for your taste. I'm not a big fan of the new GUI either, but we'll have to deal with it and get used to it. By the way, the new user interface (or rather, Scratch itself) is indeed, targeting a young audience (there are about 10 million users 13 or under according to this).
In conclusion, if you think you're getting too old for Scratch, you should try out some new things out there ^^ However, that doesn't mean you can't stay on Scratch. :P

As everybody says, you don't have to be advanced to have another SCRATCH. The block change is very cool and a good design, in my opinion. Griffpatch is an advanced coder, and an adult. But does he complain about having a “more advanced SCRATCH?” No, he doesn't. Everybody in this forum but you @YaBoySam are correct, but you are making SCRATCH look like it's a 3 year old app.

If you are advanced with coding, then it might be best for you to move up to a more challenging program. Or you could just stay on Scratch if you aren't looking for a harder challenge and like Scratch.

That is something you can do, but most programming things cost money; Not all, but most aren't that good. People stay on SCRATCH because the community is (somewhat) good, people are friendly, you can make games/ animation/ art, and more things! You can also see what other people have made. Those are 4 reasons why people who are advanced in coding stay on SCRATCH. I hope this made you understand.

Unity is free, and has a good community from what I've seen.
