Wouldn't it be great to have a compass that you can connect to your computer and Scratch can detect the direction? It'd be great for adventure games - just an idea.

Well - the ability is close to being available
The Scratch Controller Android app http://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/5359/ could be modified to provide compass info I'd though - maybe worth contacting author about that.

The Pyonkee people might be adding in sensor support to their offshoot

I did have compass support in ScratchGPIO (but I've lost my compass module so not sure if it still works!)

And maybe the HTML5 stuff by martin bateman could be modded to give compass easiliy
