BBCode dropdowns not appearing properly (Website Bug)
My browser / operating system: MacOS Macintosh X 10.13.6, Safari 11.1.2, Flash 30.0 (release 0)
Note: The bug is probably a bug that occurs only for Mac users on Safari. The bug does NOT occur in these browser and OS combinations:
- Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 68.0.3440.106, Flash 30.0 (release 0) | Pointed out by sti_scratch
- Windows 7, Chrome 68.0.3440.106, Flash 30.0 (release 0) | Pointed out by Auroura_Wolf
- Android Linux 5.1, Chrome 68.0.3440.85, No Flash version detected | Pointed out by Auroura_Wolf
Note: In this case, I refer to the textbox as the opaque white box where you put text on.
How to replicate the bug? So, when I try to post a reply in the forums, and I type something, the textbox glows blue on the outside. Now that's when the bug happens.
An explanation about what I know about the bug: So, when the textbox glows blue on the outside, and I try to click on one of the dropdowns above the textbox (for example, the Text Size dropdown or the Emoji dropdown, or the Scratchblocks dropdown), the dropdown appears in the layer below the textbox. Which means, to me, that the textbox is in a layer above where the dropdowns would be (if you have used an image editing site before, you probably understand what I mean). So it seems like, when there is a blue glow around the textbox, the textbox goes to a higher layer.
EDIT: When you click out of the textbox, the textbox doesn't have a blue glow around it, but the dropdowns still appear under it.
What effect does this bug give? Since the thing in the dropdowns are BBCode codes, then it basically obligates me (and probably other Safari users on a Mac) to memorize all the BBCode codes, including the Scratchblocks codes.
Thanks for anyone willing to help me!

I don't have this issue, but I do remember hearing about it a while ago. Like you stated in the post, I think it's probably something to do with browser and OS. I'll try it out on my phone just in case, but my phone does have Chrome sooo

Nope, not having these issues on my phone. Can you still use all of the things on the bar that don't use a drop down? For example, bold, italic and underline?

I was on a Mac, on the Safari browser. Maybe the bug is just for Mac users on Safari.

And also, I tested it with a Windows 10 PC, and the bug didn't occur.

Maybe all of Scratch's website design team used Windows. Or BBCode's design team.

This happens to me using Windows 10, Google Chrome. I don't think it has to do with the OS.

I recently installed a browser extension. After I enable this extension on scratch.mit.edu, this bug occurs. After I disable this extension and refresh the page, this bug disappears, so checking your browser extension might help.

Probably Grammarly.
