scratch cat

whys scratches mascot a cat? i just wondered why not a bird or a dog or a laptop?
say [im scratch cat] for (2) secs
move (3) steps
scratch cat is cool but why him?

WHY!

He is the mascot of the site, so he is often chosen as the main sprite. In Scratch 1.4, I believe there was a feature where you could change the sprite that automatically appears, like Gobo or a polar bear. but that feature is no longer available. To do this, one would have to download the 1.4 editor, make a new sprite, save the sprite to their computer in the costumes folder in the Scratch File Manager under the name default.sprite and you could overwrite the Scratch Cat sprite that way. (credit to Scratch Wiki for this information)

Becuase cats, scratch. If it were a dog, it would be called “Dig?” or a bird would make it call “Peck?”, and a laptop would make it “Type?”. Those are weird. So, here is your answer. Cause' cats Scratch.
