VOICE RECOGNITION I’ve been waiting for this day.

Didn’t see a topic about this so making one.

One would assume it would be Google’s technology, which is *probably* pretty good. (Don’t know myself, have 5 echos instead of the google something)

If so, it will depend on your microphone and how clearly you speak.

There is no voice recognition, this thread was before scratch 3 came out.

IIRC the extension was disabled when the topic was made, so we couldn't try it out

Here's the branch with the blocks, though they don't work either because the blocks aren't fully implemented yet or because they turned off their speech to text servers for the time being: https://llk.github.io/scratch-gui/speech-to-text/

They used to be implemented into scratch itself until I shared a project using them and the Scratch Team removed them for “Confusing new scratchers”

Edit: (They were hidden in the menu, you had to hack them in)

disclaimer: sometimes my posts are pretty critical of the scratch team (especially my older ones), but i really do

scratch & scratch team. jvvg made a short essay thing about the scratch team, which is a pretty good read, if you want a different perspective for the scratch team's actions.
