Rename variables on Mac

I am new to Scratch running on a MacBook Pro . OSX 10.8.5

I needed to rename a variable and I tried Ctrl / Cick on every visible occurrence of the variable but none of the dropdown menu options included “rename”

In the end I created a new variable and substituted it in all scripts and deleted the original variable.

I am running Scratch 1.4. What have missed?

Rename variables on Mac

Go to the variables tab and from there shift-click on the variable and rename it. Also, you might have to manually change the name in some blocks afterwards.

Rename variables on Mac

Sorry , neither Shift-Click nor Ctrl-Click works.

Shift -Click produces nothing at all

Ctrl-Click produces a drop down menu which does not include rename.

“Rename” is not mentioned in the reference pdf file

Don't think you can rename one in 1.4. You have to do what you did; create a new one and delete the old.

Rename variables on Mac

Renaming variables is a new feature in Scratch 2.0; 1.4 doesn't have it.

Thanks
Makes sense I guessed it was impossible

I loaded the PC 1.4 and ran it on my Mac and that doesn't work either which cinfirms what you said.
