welcome to the “cheese-duck crawls out of a pit of not-wanting-to-do-anything just to get stuck again” show

So, exploration is a key part of RPGs, and my RPG used to be a book that takes place mostly in one setting, a school. That's a problem because there's nowhere to explore in a school, and it quickly winds up seeming more like “teenage drama and angst” than “actual gameplay and action.”
But the main characters are kind of school-aged and it kind of takes place when school is in session

So I was thinking, maybe the school magically changes locations every week or so? But I would need to justify why. That would take a lot of money, and I don't want this to be a rich kid private school.

Uhh any solutions?
Thanks
Umm maybe because they don’t want other people knowing about the school?
Considering the school makes money off of people knowing about it, probably not
Maybe the school has a hidden operation and they need to collect things at each place, maybe in the Earth there are certain resources they need 2 fuel one of their operations. It doesn't have to be illegal because that's kind of cliche but it could provide an interesting conflict for the main characters

Maybe the main character or whatever you're going with is catholic or christian. Catholics believe that a person's life begins at their conception

Maybe they were forced to get an abortion and they didn’t want to. Maybe thier mother did everything she could besides an abortion to lose them when she was pregnant but they survived and want other people to survive. Idk, it’s a hard thing if you don’t bring religion into it. Or they witnessed tons of people die and don’t want people killing anymore. Maybe they work at the hospital and see how beautiful each baby’s life is and doesn’t want that taken way.

yess! thank you! thank both of u i've been thinking about that second one for a while.

do you think it would be realistic to have them work at the hospital and discover previous medical records?

i know there are specialised clinics but still

Hmm, maybe they could look into it because maybe their adopted and want to know more about their birth mother and find that out or they have a friend whose job it is to sort files or whatever or upload them to the computer since they all used to be on paper and sees their last name on it and shows them.

Writing Advice and Tips

SOOOOOOOO I need help finalizing so ideas for the second book in the trilogy. Just like shout out anything that is horribly wrong with this plot or something I could add.

Okay, so this will have a ton of spoilers too since I need to explain what has happened so far. Also, what happened in Chapter 3 of book 1 (which is the last chapter posted on scratch) is very important but has been taken out so I need to fit it in later. Anyway, a brief summary of book one is basically Eric learns how to control the flash drive, goes out with Dylan, does extra lessons with Mr. Foster who also has a flash drive, turns her eyes purple with the flash drive, falls in love with Reilly, finds a ton of stuff out about PIP (see world build posted for contest.) Fake kills Reilly to get them both out of the first stage and ends up being kicked out of MIT to fight in the war.
Anyway, Reilly is fake dead, revives himself later and escapes to find Eric cause he also loves her. Eric, meanwhile, is fighting in the war as a ground soldier. She defects to join the rebellion, there she finds that her parents’ death was staged and they later died in a mission as members of the rebellion. Basically, they dod this so she would be ani-war and join their side. The program was shut down and her grandparents and she were supposed to be killed in the bombing but only she survived. After discovering this, she leaves the rebellion. She gets lost in drinks, not knowing where to go as one side is working to kill everyone basically and the other side tried to kill her and ruined her life. Reilly, still searching for her, learns she defected from the military. He searches for her in all places, including bars and dances with serval girls, only getting close enough to see their eyes to check if they are purple. Eventually, he goes to a bar and as he was leaves a drunk falls on his shoe. He picks her up and notices the eyes are purple.
Now, one of the main ideas I'm struggling with is whether to making her scientifically engineered by the rebellion. This would help explain her mid-life crisis so to speak and it might set things up for having a villain. This villain would also be engineered but he was to smart, scored like a 97 and not caring enough. He deleted all mention of himself from people’s minds using the flash drive and became the hidden head of PIP. MR Foster was also engineered and he feels too much and is not smart enough (scored an 85). This would be the reason Eric, Mr. Foster and the other guy are the only ones who can control the flash drive. Reilly, even though he scored a 91 and is 17 (plot twist) can't do it (well not to my knowledge but depending on where I go in the story it could happen) if this plot does happen, Reilly won't be able to control the flash drive.

The plot seems like quite a ride….. I like it. I think you should go for it with the scientific engineering idea, but then again I don't know your book as well as you do.

Yeh, I'm leaning toward it but I'm worried it might be too cliche. Maybe I just read to many books where people are scientifically engineered and/or genetically modified? Do you think it's too cliche?

Eh, it's kinda cliché but not the most cliché thing, although I don't read the kind of books in which that happens often. If you give it your own unique gimmick/twist, I think it would be cool

Also the whole, parents are actually alive thing. I feel like that’s overused. I tried to make it so they are dead already before Eric finds out so it’s not like crazy cliche, but I still think it’s cliche. At least she doesn’t have a long lost twin that’s alive

If you think your writing has changed, I would rewrite it now, but if you want to keep writing the same piece over and over maybe every 3 or 4 months? That would be 3 or 4 times a year. At most maybe 6 months. And if you’re not writing a lot everyday, a year? But if you write often I’d go for one of the shorter times
