Is it possible to make professional games in Scratch? If not why not?

By professional games I mean games people could play for at least a few hours and that have lots of content. Even if the file types aren't compatible, would it be possible for a Scratcher to make a game good enough to go on Steam or similar?

Eh, games like that do exist, but they don't show up too often considering the effort that goes into something like that

Yeah, of course! Its just that there are very few of them, as most Scratchers dont have the patience for this sort of thing

Some scrtachers like Griffpatch can make these games, but Scratch was intended with kids and to teach basic coding, and then kids could move on to something more advanced like Python or JavaScript.

Scratch is not the best platform either, as lag can be easily noticed. (check our griffpatch’s slither.io versus the website slither.io).

Has anyone seen many Steam quality games?

Check out Life Raft Survival, my new advanced sandbox survival game with crafting, building, transportation, weather events, tropical storms, and more!

In the game you're stranded at sea after a mysterious crash and must survive in an unforgiving tropical island environment collecting resources and crafting, in an attempt to finally be rescued.

I'm glad you asked this question https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/240030/ I asked this question
Here is my game: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/292010/ it is quite long + unstable because it is updated every day.
It takes at least 20 mins to complete. (At least! Probably 1hour+)
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/203418124/ is an RPG Pokémon game. It is arguably the best one on this site. A play time from start to finish could be as short as 30 mins but a long play could be 1hr+!. It has saving and a fully functional keyboard, 3D engine, Pen Circling, Text Engine (I fixed @powercon5's), versatile map engine, event engine, as well as HM's, list-based saving, a Pokémon PC, Minimap Engine, Trainer Card,Pokémon display, Small Bag, Real-time Clock System, developer mode,Around 40 maps the play can access, 100-300hrs+ put in, developer shortcuts, developer variable display, synchronised improved curated Map engine (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/190392661/), Scratch 3 improvements, 340+ tiles for the map engine to chose, 134 Pokémon with stats, front sprites, back sprites, Names, Icons, Pokémon 2048 (bit glitchy), tutorial (WIP) and last but certainly not least- a Pokédex(basic).
I liked to think it was the most professional - apart from @griffpatch @DCPU-16 @finlay_cool

Does n!+1=m^2 have interger solutions apart from n=4,5,7?

It is possible, however you have to stick to a 50Mb limit. This greatly limits how much sound can be in a game. I have seen games that have great quality however only take 20-30 minutes to beat. It would be hard to make a long game in Scratch without padding due to there being a 50mb limit.

I would greatly appreciate if you were to check of this game I spent months that includes plot and bosses here https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/97452006/ ………………………………………Want a detailed review or idea?

I'm a major fan of Pokemon, Undertale and the Pija and Toast series.
I am doing a shiny scramble of pokemon Pearl. I'm 7 chapters in and on my way to the 2nd gym.

Theoretically, it's possible. Practically… you'd need to spend a lot of time and effort into it, and most Scratchers aren't that patient or persistent. There are a few like @griffpatch for example who can make those kinds of quality games, but they're few and far between.
