How do you learn?

For a while now I've been using this method called spaced repetition. I read what I want to learn, then I make a bunch of flashcards in Anki. Anki spaces out how long till you see a flashcard based on how confident you were with it last time. I thought it was working really well (and with very little effort), but then I found an article which says:
  • Flashcards are less useful to learning the “big picture”
  • Specifically, if you are memorizing a large amount of information, there is often a hierarchy, organization, etc that can make leaning the whole thing easier, and you lose the constant visual reminder of the larger context when using flashcards.
So I realized that although I do well with the flashcards and could probably understand what individual things mean, I couldn't sit down and write about a broader subject because I would struggle to think about what to write about

What do you think? Is there a better way?

How to learn TAIKO DRUM THE TAIKO NO TATSUJIN WAY:

Instead of notes, there are character faces. The characters' names are taiko drum onomatopoeias.
Don-chan AKA Don or Do: Coral face
Katsu-chan AKA Kat or Ka: Teal face

TAIKO NOTES:

Don/Do - Hit the center of the drum
Kat/Ka - Hit the rim of the drum

That's an easy way to learn to play a Taiko Drum.

Kahoot and Quizziz are similar-ish quizzes.

How do you learn?

I end up just writing in a bunch of notes using the stuff I've learned, and look at them. Pretty much the most basic of all things, but writing stuff down yourself has been shown to be much more effective than just looking at it. If you're having a hard time remembering it, writing the same thing down multiple times will basically guarantee it'll be stuck in your head for a while.

I learn.

“gain or acquire knowledge of or skill in (something) by study, experience, or being taught” - Dictionary

It's been over 20 years since Sonic the Hedgehog first burst on the scene in a blur of blue and red. Since that dazzling debut, Sonic has dabbled in all sorts of genres-racing, snowboarding, pinball-but Sonic Mania goes back to where it all started, grabbing rings and racing round loop-the-loops. It has sprite-based graphics, which means it's pixelated like the original Sonic games were, and classic levels like Green Hill Zone return with new twists throughout. Best of all, it has the old crew back together again to stop Robotnik. Along with Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice and a brand new 3-D game [Sonic Forces], there's never a better time to be a Sonic fan.

I write down a bunch of trash and try to make sense of my handwriting

Or I type it down but my friend strikes and deletes it all

How do you learn?

I started reading a book about learning and I think I've figured out how to solve my problem; I have to make practice question flashcards so I know when to use the information (bottom-up chunking), and mind-map flashcards to help me understand the context of different concepts (top-down chunking)

How do you learn?

My main issue is remembering how to phrase an answer. For example in chemistry, when asked what an isotope is, I learn how to say “Isotopes are atoms of the same element which have different mass numbers and therefore different numbers of neutrons”. I might have an idea of what isotopes are, but when it comes to exams, I might break down trying to remember how to say it.

I have a similar problem with math, I know the answer but I don't really know how I got it
