in B/W I believe the only method you can use to increase the odds is Masuda Method (breeding two Pokémon from different countries), which takes the odds from 1/8192 to about 1/1365. You can also try hunting in the darker grass, as that allows you to encounter two Pokémon at once (effectively doubling your odds) but these methods still require a lot of patience.

In Ultra Moon, you have a few more options. First of all, the base odds in USUM are 1/4096 (as opposed to 1/8192 in BW). Second, there is a key item called the Shiny Charm which triples your odds, although it takes a bit of work to get - it requires you to fill out your Pokédex, which because of the version exclusive Pokémon/trade evolutions requires you to trade with another game. The Masuda Method is still present, and as the base odds are doubled it now brings the odds to ~1/683. There's also a new method called SOS hunting, although the mechanics that go into it are much more complicated. That said, I think it's one of the more fun methods, personally.

And also, as bestimer mentioned, there's the Ultra Warp Ride. The further you get, the more likely you are to get a shiny, with the odds maxing out at about 1/100 (if I'm remembering correctly) EDIT: I checked the OP and it says 7/100, not 1/100. I don't think that Shiny Charm affects these odds, so if you want to choose this method there's not much point getting the Shiny Charm. That said, the selection of Pokémon available through Ultra Wormholes are relatively limited, and you have to be pretty deep in the game to do it.

no. I looked it up, and from what I can tell it was added in B2W2, not BW. and since they asked about “black” and “ultra moon”, I assumed they meant those specific games. hence, no shiny charm in Black/White

that sounds like the same thing, tbh. they had a “bias” because Charizard is such a popular Pokémon, so them having a bias is intrinsically linked to it being mainstream, no?

“shiny” is technically a fan-term. “shiny” pokémon are just alternate colour-schemes, so they don't necessarily need to be brighter. personally, i don't think that white and red would look all that good

“shiny” is technically a fan-term. “shiny” pokémon are just alternate colour-schemes, so they don't necessarily need to be brighter. personally, i don't think that white and red would look all that good

I have found soooo many shinies just through wonder trade. I have Slowking, Politoed, Kommo-o, Genesect, Celebi, Chesnaught, and Hoopa. Trading really is broken lol
