About

Conquer was started by @FPSpoods in 2016. We continue to advance the game towards our final goal of exploring space, conquering planets, and building empires.

Who We Need
We will be limiting the number of people who can join so that the collab can run more efficiently. In order to maintain the quality of the project, we are looking for applicants who have experience with Scratch and will be dedicated to the project. The most important piece of your application is the sample of your work. We will only be accepting Scratchers who show us that they can produce work of a similar quality.

Programmers
Before you apply to join, look inside the latest version of Conquer and make sure that you understand all or most of the code. We are looking for programmers who will be able to contribute with code of the same quality and will be able to debug/improve the current code.

Artists
We would like to keep the same style of art that is in the current project. You need to be skilled at vector art.

Goals for the game

Final version
Explore space and gather resources. Build new ships, tools, and then conquer planets. Fight against enemy ships and take over their planets to build an interplanetary empire. Defend your possessions against attacks.

Current goals

Artists:

- New profile picture for this account
- Banner for forum signature in two sizes, one that fills the whole signature and one that only fills part of it
- Make the stars more star-like (maybe not though, so leave the original costume)
- Draw some new weapons to be shown as upgrades
- Draw these resources: rock, oil, plants, metal, and fuel

Programmers:

✅ Update the warp so that there is velocity when the camera moves to where you warped.
- Fix any bugs that you find.
- Start making an upgrade menu, where you need certain resources to upgrade. Put temporary pictures in if the artists haven’t drawn them yet. Make sure to make it compatible for when we implement resource collection.
- Spawn planets and asteroids in a less random order, maybe using a seeded generator that makes “systems” of planets.

Sound people:

- Possibly some new music options
- You can experiment with new sounds where you see fit
- Keep up to date with the voiceover for the tutorial

I will update these goals as we complete them.

Rules:
- The projects are labeled with versions. I have started this at 2.0. Small updates (bug fixes, slight changes, etc.) should change the third number, and larger updates should change the second number.
- Make sure to remix the latest version of the project.
- Please tell me if you can’t stay active anymore, and I will remove you from the jobs but give you your job back if you want it again.
- If you are inactive for more than three weeks without giving me a reason, I will remove you.
- Only this account can accept people, unless I give you permission to.

I think we should remove the tutorial voices. Bandit's not here and it costs money to buy a sound software to make those voices.

Cool, you're accepted! There's not that much for audio people to do right now, but if you find anything that you think should have a sound effect you can add it.

Well for example I think there should a rocket sound when you move forwards or backwards. You should find or make a sound for that and then make a project with the sound in it so the programmers can add it in.

Probably dramatic music without lyrics. Part of a movie soundtrack could work but it shouldn't be much longer than 4 minutes.
