SITUATION
Someone sees a studio, project, or user that has an inappropriate thumbnail or name. They could report it but that would mean clicking on it, waiting for it to load, and potentially being exposed to more inappropriate content. So, they don't report it. The solution? Add a small report button (maybe a flag) somewhere near the thumbnail, or maybe one that appears on it when you hover your mouse.

REFUTATIONS
No support, unnecessary. Lots of things are unnecessary. In fact, a forum is unnecessary. People could just as well discuss things on project and user pages. Why even have one?

People need to be less sensitive. On a childrens' website? Good luck telling little kids to “toughen up” after seeing disturbing imagery online.

You can press a few extra buttons. True, but why make me press a few extra buttons when I don't have to?

If it contains something so offensive then I don't want to click on it. Clicking on it often results in a higher resolution image to be loaded which may be even more disturbing, and it may contain more stuff like that once you click.

sometimes people just need to toughen up. (no offense)

That's nice advice for a 16 year old, not so much for a 6 year old who is more likely to use Scratch.

I support, that's happened to me before.

Ehh… Part of me wants to say that you should ignore the higher resolution and report it. I can see how it's inappropriate, but what's the use if you already saw it?

Let's say a young kid finds an inappropriate image and wants to report it. There's two options here at present:

1) The kid clicks on the image to get to the report button, and clicks on it. This isn't perfect because then the kid ends up seeing the image in a higher resolution; which of course scares or scars the kid.

2) The kid doesn't click on the image at all. It isn't reported. This isn't really good, either, because the image is going to stay on the site until someone else finds it; which means two people end up seeing the bad image.

With this suggestion, there'd be a third option - the kid reports the image without seeing the image at a higher resolution. This is definitely better, because the kid doesn't see the full version of a bad picture, and nobody else has to worry about seeing the image, since the kid reported it!

Not just for things like that. Reporting people's icons and names from the forums is a needed feature. I once came across someone with such a bad username it disgusted me and I had to remove it from my browser history because anyone who didn't know what it was would think I was looking at incredibly inappropriate material (their username refered to it). This would mean I wouldn't have to have it in my search history. Honestly, I cared more about preserving my search history than their username, though it did disgust me, not because it was that disgusting, but the fact it was on a website aimed at kids.

That's an excellent point.. However I can see where you're coming from, @birdoftheday. But I agree with @DownsGameClub.

Adding onto @_nix's comments, if you actually do click on a user or studio with an inappropriate image, it could reveal anywhere from one to hundreds more pictures with equal or worse levels of inappropriateness. So I see no real downside.

So the arguments are:

FOR
• Make Scratch more convenient
• Make Scratch safer (see my post above)
• Make people more likely to report inappropriate content (see nix's post)

AGAINST
• Arbitrarily deemed “not necessary”
• Scratch could technically exist without it

I support once there was a project with an innapropriate image of a boy and a girl you know and i had to click on it to report it and i got in trouble by my mum

No Support. What do you expect, a popup of a project to appear when you click on it?

You expect everything to arrive at you? Well, I know somethings will be difficult, but at everyone says, a few clicks does not harm a community.

That's a great idea, I totally agree with you

Because if you click on the project, it will pop up in your computer History. I know you can just delete it again, but still. Plus project thumbnails are tiny when you're browsing so you might not see the full picture, and when you click on it you will see everything.
