Mutes and bans
mutes and bans an' mutes and bans- sorry i had to
Anyway - I do have a few questions about mutes and bans, since I've never been muted or banned I don't know everything about them or any experience (but I have a friend who's been muted a bunch of times before for some reason and a few of my old accounts were once banned)
This also does have a few questions about alerts (and a little about the filter) as well.
-
1: Are sharing bans pretty much the same as mutes? I mean, to my knowledge sharing bans still let you log on but don't allow you to share comments/projects/etc., and mutes don't let you comment, so..
2: To my knowledge, mutes last 24 hours. Has there ever been a case (or is it possible) for someone to be muted for longer than that, or even permanently? Has a sharing ban ever been permanent?
3: What is the shortest time you can be banned?
4: Does a user ever get banned without warning? I mean, no alerts, no mutes, nothing like that..
5: Is it possible to get banned for being reported unfairly? For example, let's say a user is reported a lot of times by different people but didn't even do anything wrong and gets banned for getting reported..
6: When a post says "(removed by moderator)“, does the person who put the content that was later removed by the moderator always get an alert for that?
7: Mutes do still let you edit your profile description, share projects, make studios, etc., right? I mean, anything but comment. When my friend was muted, she had to edit her profile description to explain that she was muted and couldn't comment, but that was over a year ago so things may have changed.. (Unrelated, but she was literally getting muted for comments like ”Thanks for the follow!")
8: Is it possible to get an alert or anything like that which caused the bad word detector to stop you? (I mean, if you know what I mean..)

Mutes and bans
1 and 2. Don't know
3. Depends on how quick the user makes the ban appeal
4. You shouldn't. It depends on severity for the amount of warnings before banning. More severe cases may give you a ban but the ST may first give a warning.
5. Yes, it happened to Griffpatch once.
6. Not always.
7. Never been muted. BTW, your friend may have been muted because they posted the same comment over and over.
8. Don't think so.
Currently, I haven't been banned or muted before so I don't have any info on it really.

Mutes and bans
1: Are sharing bans pretty much the same as mutes? I mean, to my knowledge sharing bans still let you log on but don't allow you to share comments/projects/etc., and mutes don't let you comment, so…I don't know too much about sharing bans.
2: To my knowledge, mutes last 24 hours. Has there ever been a case (or is it possible) for someone to be muted for longer than that, or even permanently?I think this is possible, although I have no evidence.
Has a sharing ban ever been permanent?I don't know too much about sharing bans, as said previously.
3: What is the shortest time you can be banned?According to this topic/page, Paddle2See says that “the first block lasts about 3 days”, or 3.5 according to the corresponding image. This may be outdated and there may have been special circumstances not following this statement.
4: Does a user ever get banned without warning? I mean, no alerts, no mutes, nothing like that.If you're a legitimate user, likely not. You'd be warned ahead of time about your actions, meaning you'd get numerous alerts (the amount varying) before being banned. If you do something extremely inappropriate, you may be immediately banned without warning.
If you're suspected to be a bot or something, I would think you can be banned immediately, but I have no supporting evidence on this.
5: Is it possible to get banned for being reported unfairly? For example, let's say a user is reported a lot of times by different people but didn't even do anything wrong and gets banned for getting reported. The Scratch Team tends to handle reports correctly, but there may be some mistakes.
6: When a post says "(removed by moderator)", does the person who put the content that was later removed by the moderator always get an alert for that?I don't have evidence on this, however a moderator may modify your post to censor a quote within it (belonging to someone else), not putting you in trouble.
7: Mutes do still let you edit your profile description, share projects, make studios, etc., right? I mean, anything but comment. When my friend was muted, she had to edit her profile description to explain that she was muted and couldn't comment, but that was over a year ago so things may have changed.. (Unrelated, but she was literally getting muted for comments like “Thanks for the follow!”)I would think so.
8: Is it possible to get an alert or anything like that which caused the bad word detector to stop you? (I mean, if you know what I mean..)If you're talking about typing an innocent word, and the bad word detector finds it inappropriate, I don't think it's connected to banning users. It just prevents an user from typing something that gets them banned.

Yeah mutes still let you edit descriptions and stuff because I got muted a few weeks ago (I used Scratch Team, bad idea, and the discuss button in the same sentence… oops) and I was able to edit my descriptions and stuff (that was repetitive lol).

For project SIMPLIFIED-Anna and Marnie SpeedArt Simplified:
We removed this project because it appears to be an exact copy of someone else's original. It's fine to remix someone else's sprites, scripts or images, but you must be sure to add your own ideas, and give them credit in the project notes. If you want to re-share it, make sure you describe what you changed in the project notes.
Unsupported Mistake by ST (I change it right at the end so unless they waited for 60 seconds and then I simplified reshared it nobody has reported it

Also, how do you get so many alerts in a short time like that? I haven't gotten an alert in over a year..

Yep, my friend 4computer was reported unfairly. See, we are best friends in real life. She introduced me to scratch. She told me to send her an email, so guess what happened? The scratch team thought she was asking me for my email, but really, she wasn't at all. So she has 2 banned accounts now I don't know when she's coming back.
and it is unfair.
5: Is it possible to get banned for being reported unfairly? For example, let's say a user is reported a lot of times by different people but didn't even do anything wrong and gets banned for getting reported… [/quote

Additionally, your friend should not have used another account to bypass the ban.

Yes, that wasn't the reason. She had to tell her friends what happened. I'll tell her. I think she'll understand

(snip)First of all, this question is old and this doesn't really add much to the conversation. Despite it being technically unsolved, I'm pretty sure we need more answers rather than a story about a friend who got banned.. and you probably shouldn't talk about someone getting banned/alerted since these are between the ST and the user who got the ban/alert..
I won't have this topic closed yet (this is a topic I made on my side account) since it's still technically unsolved, I'll have an ST member answer this since I'm pretty sure we'll get more accurate answers if we ask someone who helps run this site.
