How do you open source a specification? Provide the TeX files?
Idk… Probably in Microsloth Werd format.
The pdf, unless adobe deprecates those too
PDF is already an open standard. But the PDF isn't the specifications source

I really hope Adobe at the very least releases the source code for the Flash plugin a reasonable time before it is entirely deprecated, so we can Emscripten it to WebAssembly to play old Flash games.
How is thsi relevant

Good question it runs .sfw files that I think you can compile the scratch 2 editor source code into… do not know how to run it but I will look at it but there may be examples/docs on how to do that

I have Flash disabled by default. It's more for stability than security.

My thoughts on the petition for open sourcing flash:

Positive:
- People can still use flash
- Tons of companies won't get stuck

Negative:
- People are still going to program with it

Wait one or two years for a lot of things requiring Flash to die, then open source it.

There are positive and negative changes that may occur when flash is exterminated. Many flash games are getting removed due to many people not having the capability to keep installing flash. But there are some positive changes. Now that scratch won’t be flash-based, you can use it on your phone or mobile device which is a huge plus now for people. I have seen the blocks for scratch 3. Honestly, they are not as good as the ones we use in scratch 3, but everything else is really cool.

Adobe just announced that Adobe Flash support will end on December 31, 2020.
In the mean time, browsers will be gradually putting more restrictions on Flash.
This will be interesting for legacy Scratch support. 0.x-1.4 will still work but 2 will be fairly unusable (unless you want to use a highly vulnerable, out-of-support software ).
