Always animate with sprites.
Either bitmap or vector makes fine animations. The techniques are different and the visual appearance is different, so you can't really substitute one for the other.
Neither one is any easier than the other once you have learned both of them.
As a general rule, all games supposed to look like Gameboy or old Nintendo games should be bitmap animations.
Games supposed to look like Flash games should be vector animations.

Should i animate in vector or bitmap
If you want pixel art or retro sprites, it's better to use bitmap. Otherwise, I would use vector. Bitmap seems more glitchy. Which is easier to animate with vector or bitmap
