Is the Ipad Mini worth it?

My birthday is on April 17th, and well, my mom said it'd be a good idea to start thinking about what i want for my birthday, and what i want is the new smash bros, the new donkey kong, and a 16GB Ipad Mini (without retina display), and well i was wondering if the Ipad Mini is good, because i've heard a few mixed things about it, but i've used my cousin's Ipad Mini, and i like it, but i just want to know if it's really worth it. Is it?

Hello dear followers, i'm back.

I'm on it now. Never had any problem with it, runs smoothly, and I'm on the original Mini. I mainly use it for web browsing and music.

99% of time I'm on the forums I'm on an iPad mini.

In 2018, I asked the Scratch Team to remove all my forum posts to protect my privacy. That's why this post is blank. Besides, I've outgrown this website, and I don't want the dumb things I said in my late tween/early teen years to follow me around for the rest of my life. This post probably wasn't anything interesting or important, anyway.

It's basically the iPad Air in a smaller scale, so yes.

I use an iPad Mini for playing games like Minecraft PE and Asphalt 8. It runs games really well, and I like it since it's not huge and kind of hard to hold like a normal iPad, and it's not tiny like an iPod Touch or and iPhone. So yes, I would say it's definitely worth it, unless you already have an iPad, then there's kind of no point.

I'm only 13. My parents won't let me download 17+ apps.
Since Chrome is an Internet browser (which, I guess is the explanation for such a high rating), they may let you. Plus, some of the apps ratings can be off. For example, one of the Roblox apps was in the ‘family’ category, yet it was rated 17+. Roblox is not for people 17+. Anyone who's played it knows it's a kids site. Then again, it wasn't exactly the original company that made the app…

But anyway, tell them it's a browser and that you'll stay off bad sites or whatever, and you're probably okay.

Do they know that using the Safari web browser is the same as using the Google Chrome browser?

I bought an iPad Mini with Retina display about a week ago. It is super fast and apps rarely crash for me (except Facebook which is a bit buggy). The battery life is excellent. I can play games, music and stream TV shows and it lasts for hours on a full charge.
I am not sure about the non Retina display though, but it is probably worth it.

Edit: Also, I forgot to mention: Warning - those things are very addictive.

Yes. I know that they won't let me. My parents won't let me play Team Fortress 2, which from what I've heard, isn't that violent, even though it's rated M.
It's pretty violent, actually, but that's not why I'd personally stop someone your age playing. It's multiplayer only and free to play. It's a jungle out there full of unpleasantness. Being a kid amongst that isn't fun.

On the other hand I'd be fine with a child using Chrome over Safari. (removed by moderator), I know I do! I just don't like Safari as a browser!

If your folks don't understand then you can either teach them (if both you and they have the patience) or live with it. Took me years to teach my mother but these days she surprises me with her technical aptitude. Not bad for someone about to have their 70th birthday!

Edit: I have no idea what the problem with my post was. With the edit it seems rather dodgy though!

I've never actually had an iPad mini but my cousin has one and it runs well. I can't say how it does in the long run, though. If you want something cheaper, though, I would definitely recommend the Nexus 7. I've had it for a little while now and it is just as good, if not better. That is, if you don't already have an Apple device with all your purchases and stuff.
