What are the username characters?

I'm making an cloud characters to numbers converter and vise versa, but I don't know what characters can be used in a username (Apart from letters and numbers). Does anyone know?

That's completely incorrect.

The only characters that can be in a scratch username apart form numbers and letters are the underscore (_) and hyphen (-)

I think full stops can be used as well.

I'm afraid you're wrong with that one, as well:

Full stops are the same as ‘dots’ in web addresses so this could never happen on any website where the username is in the web address.

No, because the username is part of a web address (which can't contain spaces). I think it substitutes a space bar as ‘%20’ or similar.
