Uploading Issues

Hi! So, sometimes I try to upload songs into my projects from iTunes, but when I do that, the song doesn't show up or it says “Can't connect to server” or something. What is going on?

Also, whenever I try to upload projects from the offline editor onto here, it says that it “Can't connect to server”. What's going on?

Do you think this has anything to do with the parental controls on my Internet browser?

No, it has to do with Apple being the wrong sound file format. Go back to iTunes and convert your songs to mp3 files, but make sure they are not too large. Don't choose “high quality”. Choose medium quality or lower.

NOTE: I haven't been to iTunes. I am told mp3's are available there. Whether you can choose quality I do not know.

I just told you. Download them from iTunes as mp3 files.

If for some reason you don't have that option, then use a sound editing program. A free one that is popular is AUDACITY. Be sure to get it from the source to avoid malware.

On my computer I use MAGIX.

I believe iTunes has an unsupported file format, which brings that alert up.

One of the reasons why it might be unsupported, is to monitor audio file piracy (i.e. snatching an audio file and placing it, and when your subscription ends, you still have it*), and in that case, there's almost nothing to do other than using an alternate method.

*I believe iTunes has transitioned to Apple Music, am I right? Which is a subscription service?

The most-used alternate method is uploading a YouTube video's audio file, in which you do the following steps:
1) Find the video. Ensure that it has appropriate language and audio.
2) Right-click and copy the video URL.
3) Go to youtube-mp3.org and convert the video into an audio file (mp3.)

From here on, I have heard that .MP3 is now supported rather than just .WAV, so there's two alternate routes. If .MP3 files are now supported, then do the following:
4) Upload to Scratch as usual.

Now if Scratch does not support .MP3, then follow this:
4) Go to media.io.
5) DO NOT download media.io, use the online version in grey on the left.
6) Convert to .WAV.
7) Upload to Scratch as usual.

EDIT: Fixed duplication.
