I think Scratch should have a Discord server because even though Discord has unmoderated chat, you can use a bot to help you. The bot is called Nightbot, and it has a feature that can blacklist words (ban certain words).
Also, when we post links to discord servers, input a feature that makes sure that Nightbot is on there with all possible curse words blacklisted. Also, in the wiki for ‘Will Scratch Ever Get Private Messaging’ , it says, and I quote, 'Instead of private messaging, one can use instant messaging services, such as Skype and Discord.'
I know that Discord also has private messaging (which Discord is basically one of the alternatives to private messaging), you can't PM someone on Discord if you don't share a server.

I like this idea, I just don't think Scratch would put the time into doing it.

No support, PMing is rejected by the stickies as the ST can't moderate the private messages on Discord. Also, what is even the purpose of this?

I know that Discord also has private messaging (which Discord is basically one of the alternatives to private messaging), but you can't PM someone on Discord if you don't share a server.

But even if they share the server, the ST can't moderate it.

Even with the Bad Word Detector, the ST still has the report button available since it's still pretty easy to be disrespectful.

You still haven't addressed the problem with private messaging.If you share a server with thousands of people, doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of not private messaging?I know, but tbh I prefer Discord than Scratch for public messaging.
I don't think this is a good idea. Already, Scratch has millions of people. Creating a server harnessing millions is just going to get messy. I don't think this will be good, especially since the Scratch Team already handles many problems with the website and already moderates all of the site.

There was a discord update recently that scans all of the private messages sent to you by users that aren't your friends. Also, I forgot that you can disable private messaging for certain servers.
There is also a slowmode feature on certain Discord bots that prevents users from sending messages. One Discord bot that has the slowmode feature as well as blocking certain words is Mee6. I wouldn't recommend using Mee6, though, if you have the leveling system enabled. The leveling system encourages spam. If you still don't believe me then ask me for more information.

Anyways, I do support a Scratch Discord server but we do still have to respect the ST's outdated-ish wishes
(I mean, there are only a couple incidents with Roblox PMs which sadly are overblown by the media)
