Backstory: Both his parents despised the wars. They hid Halwende and themselves away for a good 14 years after he was born, but they were eventually separated. Halwende survived almost entirely by himself for a good five years, though he occasionally accepted help from other pacifists.
Other: Halwende's name means ‘lonely.’ His mother named him that because she anticipated their separation. She never told him or his father what the name meant, saying that it was an old family name.
