I just found this game on Steam while browsing the free-to-play section today (as my cheapskate self usually does).
It's essentially a fantasy-based sandbox game with an open world and minimal graphics. Once you've registered an account, you pick between four characters (knight, archer, mage, what I assume is the weaponsmith) and spawn in your very own small home area that you build a dwelling in. You gather more materials for building by exploring the outside world, using your shovel to collect bits from around the game world's separate areas as well as discovering new things and defeating creatures for coins to spend on new blocks.
Now, I know what you're thinking: “UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH”
…which is understandable and I'm not going to deny for a second that this game doesn't use many of the same tropes that are emerging from this pseudo-genre. However, like some of the other games out there, it has its own few elements that make it somewhat unique. Most notably IMHO (though not really a selling point), the player characters and mobs are in a 2D cartoon style in contrast to the blocky 3D environment, which is a neat and refreshing shake-up in graphics that offers more of an organic feeling in comparison to the same basic models every other similar game have been using.
Gameplay and graphics-wise, as implied before, it's comparable to multiple building/mining/adventure games that can be found on ROBLOX (The Sandbox in particular) with elements of Minecraft that come with it. If you don't like either of these, you most likely won't find anything in Angeldust, but it's worth trying if you still find some fun in those kinds of games.
I played the game for nearly an hour as the mage and spent my time exploring the vast world the game offers, encountering animals and treasure chests along the way (though no players beyond the starting point sadly). It was a fun experience! I haven't felt such freedom of exploration since good ol' MC. I was getting destroyed by dangerous mobs though, so I went back to the hub and looked around at some of the other players' houses. A lot of them were well-built, the others were still only a few blocks in progress. Overall, the experience wasn't amazing but positive and even surprising.
This game probably won't go anywhere, however, if they don't start introducing a ton of new elements soon. Other MMO sandbox games tend to roll these out in small doses every once in a while to make it feel fresh for another half-hour, but this game needs to kick up a good deal of innovation if it wants to make a big mark in a massive movement that many people are getting tired of. Nothing here is necessarily too lacking, it's alright for a simple start in a sandbox adventure, but just advice that I feel needs to be taken for this to be going places. If the devs don't want to make it this big, that's fine. It's still acceptable enough as it is in its current state and content updates will move it ahead swiftly enough to last a while with a happy community.
Could do with a bit of a revamp in the sounds department too, though the OST is pretty good.
Overall, the formula's pretty stale and you should expect many of the generic elements to pop up when you play it, but this is surprisingly decent for its kind and has plenty of potential on display. The community is also still small and breathable as you should expect from an Early Access title, so ASAP is the best time to try it out before the 50/50 chance of it gaining major success kicks in. There was a definite scent of “we're going to introduce pay-to-win elements in this game at any point” going around, but it hopefully won't be too shocking.
Oh, yeah, last one thing: that spider thing is absolutely adorable and I want one. (Here's hoping the game might introduce a pets system! )

Tried out the solo creative mode in the game today, pretty much what you'd expect.

I'm pretty sure the title isn't alluding to that.
