Scratch 3.0 Preview in... Google Santa Tracker?

That's right, I believe that Google is giving us a peek at how Scratch 3.0 is going to look and work in practice in Google Santa Tracker.
(Santa Tracker is another example of Google being super awesome by giving us fun little activities and games throughout the holidays.)

Today's “Code a Snowflake” activity, the coding interface looks awfully similar to the horizontal one outlined on the Scratch 3.0 block design page.
Similarly, even the “Code Boogie” activity looks a lot like the vertical interface.

Any thoughts on playing with the new interface? Is this really the future of Scratch?

The horizontal version looks just like the scratch-blocks horizontal design, but vertical doesn't look much similar – it's certainly not that different from what Blockly used to look like.

Scratch 3.0 Preview in... Google Santa Tracker?

Did you notice that the Scratch Team is creating Scratch 3.0 right now publicly online?

See this topic, the “developers” page, and the repositories for the GUI, blocks, interpreter and audio engine. There's even a live demo on the Scratch Team's GitHub Pages site: https://llk.github.io/scratch-gui/

I'm not sure that I like the new code editor GUI. The blocks are a lot bigger so it will be harder to make complex projects because we won't be able to see as much code as we can now. Other than the GUI I am excited to see what other things scratch adds.
