Scratch Activity Meter

This implementation would add a meter on your profile that shows if you are logged in or if you aren't. It may show if you are viewing a project, on the forums, or working on a project. And maybe when you clicked on the meter you go to the webpage they are at. There would be an option to opt out of it.

I like the contributions graph-chart thing on Github, something like that would be cool.

“S.A.M. It's just S.A.M. Who is ever going to use this?”

I like the idea of an online indicator (especially if it's disableable), but I think this idea might be a bit too involved, and potentially invasive. For example, you could watch what someone is doing and wait until they post on a forum topic just to spite them with an overly-critical reply. And what if the Scratcher in question has multiple tabs open?

What is Sam
I thought about the tabs as well. I don't know. Maybe you set a primary tab.

I like the idea of an online indicator, but showing what the current user is doing seems a little to ‘stalker-ish’ for me. What if I don't want people to know what I'm doing at the moment?

Sorry, but I don't support.

You'll be able to turn it off. It would be opt out.

I don't believe it says that anywhere in the OP. IF you are able to turn it off, then I'll support.

I don't get the logistics of this, but it sounds cool. I'd support it On other websites they have similar things, so I suppose it could work.

I'd rather have it just show whether or not the Sratcher is online or not. A lot of Scratchers waste character space in their about me for that purpose. Clicking it to view the place the Scratcher is at seems a little bit invasive. Also, if they have multiple tabs open, as mentioned in an above post, the indicator might likely get confused.

First of all, people seem to already know when I'm on Scratch. It's scary.

Second of all, this would just make people start posting “hi” and stuff all over my profile while I'm on, and then I wouldn't be able to work on a project.

You could simply hide or whatever the indicator then, right? Or maybe there could be a “do not disturb” option?

Well, when I need to reload the page to test something, or change the description, I always have a bunch of mail.
