Edit: Oh yeah, I think the author published that under a different title and cover hoping it would sell a little better. Slapped a hot teenage girl on it because that's what readers are into, apparently. I don't know what her intended audience was, but I'm pretty sure “people who are interested in hot girls” and “people who are interested in superhero princess and rainbow fairy curses” are mutually exclusive…

What if there was a ‘magic remote’ story where, instead of changing the world around the main character(s), it just changes a TV but can go backward and forward in time. Like, you can fast forward and go back, meaning you can see stuff that will be on TV in the future or stuff that was in the past. The main character(s) see(s) a doomsday event on the news and then see(s) the channel go blank, then they have to prevent it from happening before it’s too late, with a side plotline about one of the main characters trying to solve a mystery where all the footage is gone by looking through stuff that aired in the past. Heck, maybe even add in a ‘time traveler from the future is the one who gives the main character the remote and they’re going to cease to exist if the doomsday thing happens because they traveled back right before it. And maybe that character is the main character’s child… or something

I was going to suggest a self-fulfilling prophecy, but I think that would just sound cliché and wouldn't fit so yeah cool… actually, I kinda like the mystery side plot more
